Best experience of my life
Solo travelling and exchange to Taiwan for 8 weeks. I have visited 9 out of 16 districts in Taiwan. The exchange is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity as I get to exchange cultures and local language. I was a part time volunteer and English teacher in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
role for first project - moderator
I am the one who list out the things all of us need to prepare each time before attending a meeting. I will make sure everyone is on track and able to follow. I am the one who provide leadership and to ensure our project is up to the mark and developed on structure. I am the one who encourage the interaction and innovation among my group members.
In this project, my contribution is helping out everything such as rearranging the templates of the website, developing questions, getting materials and recording the video.

Role for second project
I was in charge of the literature survey for biomass, the first half of the proposed technology, and also the first half of the sizing of the reactors. Not only that, I was also incharge of the mind map for CPDIC this time. I also took the effort to upload the literature survey and all materials into the website.
reflection on krd
KRD stands for Kinetics & Reactor Design. This subject is basically the core subject for a chemical engineering student. Without this subject, we, as a chemical engineer will not be able to learn about reactors nor building them. Throughout these 5 weeks with Dr Suzana, I learnt I need to try on her exercises and tutorial given by her. Yes, she makes sure each of her class we at least learn something from her such as drawing a flowrate table. Students like us were not impressed when we know that she will be teaching us, as told by the seniors she is a very strict lecturer. As for me, I was quite happy to know that she will be teaching us as the previous semester I really did learnt something from her, something from her subject: Separation Process. Her concept of teaching is great, she will make sure the concepts she taught will be applied by us in her exercises. Trust me, we need to crack our brains in order to solve her exercises. This subject benefits me as I love and have keen interest in building a reactor in the future.
For the next half of the semester, I learned a lot via this subject. The learning material of this subject is quite special. We were to learn the chapters via video presented by our lecturer, Mr Tazli. Not only that, we were exposed to online quiz, take home test and also open book test which I believe most lecturer will not be using the same teaching material. Ones need a lot of practices for KRD as learning via video itself is not enough. Overall, KRD subject is fun and challenging.

reflection on cpdic
Throughout these 5 weeks with Dr Abbas, I learnt to adapt in his speaking. He will patienetly teach us steps by steps for the derivation of formulae and concept. This subject is definitely not an easy one, it takes a lot of hard work and practices to understand and score. At the beginning, I find it difficult to understand the concept taught. Luckily, I took some time studying this subject and hence it is better now. Each chapter that he taught, there will be an assignment. As mentioned by Dr Abbas, “You need to do it yourself, not by listening me repeating it 100 times”.
To be honest, I was not too sure about my knowledge in CPDIC. CPDIC subject requires a lot of creativeness in developing the right equations. Second half of this subject was taught by Dr Haslinda. She is a nice lecturer and I could understand better from her slides. She emphasizes on her teaching material and teaches step- by- step. She emphasizes on the student’s attendance. In her class, there is no assignment given as she believes that most students will be copying each other. I understand the second half of the semester better than the first half of the semester.

reflection on pslp
Throughout these 5 weeks with Dr Zulkarnain, I learn the importance of safety. I like how he prepare and print out slides for the students in his lecture. I believe this is important in order for the students to catch up on the lectures. He also prepares assignment at the end of each class. This subject could be boring but I believe this subject will benefit me in the future as I plan to work for an environment with a lot of safeties.
PSLP itself is actually not that difficult. However, ones must know the basics of conversion of units in this subject. Questions and assignments prepared are rather straight forward, this means by applying into the desired equation and substituting it, we can get the final answer. Again, credits need to be given for this lecturer as he provides his teaching material in every class for the students.

reflection of the boardgame
I find our group’s board game entitled “Train to Reactor” is simply catchy and direct to the key point. Our group’s board game is rather different from others, as most of them are using monopoly and snakes ladder concept. Our game was originated from “Ticket to Ride”. This board game project wasn’t as easy as we thought, as we need to come out with great ideas and make sure we are different from others. I learnt the basics to make a simple website, designing, and thinking out of the box. Having to do this board game with my groupmates is simply amazing. I believe each individual of us really spent much time doing research on this project.
reflection on the questions posted for krd in the boardgame
As mentioned, our board game is ‘Train to reactor’, the player need to know the basic concept of this subject. In order to build a reactor via riding on the train, the player needs to solve reactor design questions. The questions were divided into few level, easy intermediate and difficult. The player will be excited in solving the question, as he or she can choose to be greedy or normal, whether they intend to score more points or by taking a longer route or be safe by taking a shorter route.
REFLECTION ON THE QUESTIONS POSTED FOR cpdic IN THE BOARDGAME
I wasn’t sure on how to prepare questions for CPDIC as CPDIC is more to deriving and solving mass and energy balances. The balances questions should be a simple one, otherwise it will take time for the player to solve it and other players will tend to get bored.
REFLECTION ON THE QUESTIONS POSTED FOR pslp IN THE BOARDGAME
I connected this subject with KRD for the questions as I believe both of these subjects are linkable. Questions prepared were not too difficult and can be solved immediately.
Reflection on the 2nd group project
2nd group project was not as easy as it is. Most of us thought that it will be an assignment instead of a mini project where we need to change waste products in the supermarket to wealth. This mini group project is by far the most challenging project. From the literature review, we need to think carefully on which technology best fits the criteria asked. We also need to know about the usage of Autocad which I believe most of us have forgotten its basics for drawing PFD and P & ID diagram. Not only that, we need to relate the proposed technology with other subject as well. In my opinion, time given is not sufficient as we have other commitment as well, such as tests, assignments, projects, and presentations to be handled. Again, I am beyond words and thankful enough to have such great members who co-operated with me throughout the project. Without them, who am I to finish these project alone?
